Some achievements deserve more than a quick mention. This is one of them. Over the weekend of 11th and 12th April 2026, Roy Rogers, Compliance and Training Director at Enigma-is, took on the Mam Tor and Great Ridge Charity Walk. Three full circuits. Twenty-four hours. 17.3 miles and 42,297 steps across the Peak District.
The result was a remarkable £5,635.75 raised for three causes close to Roy's heart, the British Heart Foundation, Man Down UK and Misfits HFT.
From recovery to the summit
What lifts this above the everyday charity walk is the path Roy travelled to reach the start line. After recovering from heart and lung issues, he could have settled for a slow return to normal life. He chose the opposite. Day one was completed with a racing heart rate and cramping legs. Day two was, in his words, a very slow start. But he finished, and so did everyone walking with him.
In Roy's words
As I look back on the last 12 months, I can say without exaggeration that the Mam Tor Charity Walk Challenge has and will change my life. My health issues have provided me with a new lease of life. Day one, I was feeling apprehensive but determined. I did not want to let the charities or those who have supported me down.
A family on the ridge
Roy was not alone up there. His wife Kate and daughter Aimi walked every circuit alongside him, and new Enigma-is colleague Paul Bradshaw, QSHE and Energy Business Partner, joined for the third circuit on day two. It is a reminder that the hardest challenges are rarely tackled solo. The right people make the impossible feel possible.
